Adrian Sampson is on the mound for the Cubs tonight, coming off a pretty solid start against the Reds in which he allowed just 2 runs to score over his 5.0 innings of work (not an easy feat against that offense). Sampson remains little more than a fill-in/swing member of this particular rotation without much long-term upside, but, hey … the dude’s got a 2.20 ERA over his 16.1 IP this season. Nevermind the 5.86 FIP.
