Dodgers: Justin Turner Nominated For the Prestigious Roberto Clemente Award

The Dodgers have their nominee for the 2021 Roberto Clemente award. Each year, every team around Major League Baseball picks one player from their team that best represents the game through character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions on and off the field.

This year, the Dodgers nominated Justin Turner to potentially receive the award. This is the 4th time in the last 5 years that JT has been the nominee for Los Angeles. He was also selected in 2017, 2018, 2020, and now 2021.

JT has become a very involved member of the community along with his wife Kourtney since coming to the Dodgers. The Justin Turner Foundation aims to support homeless veterans, children battling life-altering illnesses and diseases, and youth baseball organizations all across the county.

I’m honored to be the Dodgers’ nominee for this award and be mentioned alongside Roberto Clemente, who showed us all the impact that athletes can make and what it means to give back to the community. My wife Kourtney and I are humbled by this recognition, and pledge to continue lifting up people in need, especially our homeless veterans, and supporting our hospitals, schools and youth sports.

Fans can start to vote for the winner of the award today by going here to cast their ballot. Dodgers fans can vote for JT until the end of the season, October 3rd. The Clemente Award was originally called the Commissioner’s Award upon it’s conception back in 1971. It was named after Roberto Clemente following his passing in 1972 while attempting to deliver supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.

Funny enough, Max Scherzer was also nominated to receive the award for his work with the Washington Nationals. So the Dodgers could potentially have 2 different guys on the team take home one of baseball’s most prestigious individual awards.
