Celtic have done well to make it to the group stage of the Europa League after a tough start to the season. Ange Postecoglou’s side have shown a lot of progress over the past couple of months and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the competition. They have been placed in one of the toughest groups though with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and Ferencvaros.

The Hoops will begin their Europa League group stage campaign with an away game against Real Betis in Seville.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side had not made the best start to the season but will be coming into the game on a high after winning their first game of the 2021/22 campaign, on Monday against Granada.

On the other hand, there is mixed news for Celtic when it comes to the injury front. As reported by the Daily Record, Anthony Ralston is set to return to the squad but the fitness of Greg Taylor remains a doubt.

Celtic have been handed a mixed injury update

It will be interesting to see who starts for Celtic at left-back if Taylor does end up missing the game. Postecoglou certainly has a few options to pick from.

We have already seen Josip Juranovic feature at left-back. In fact, he made his debut for the club there against the Rangers at Ibrox. On the other hand, new signing, Liam Scales, is capable of playing in the position as well. And Adam Montgomery has done very well whenever given a chance, so his name would be expected to be in the mix as well.

Celtic’s game against Real Betis promises to be a very exciting one. Both clubs are known for their possession-based style of football and they share a lot of history as well. Thus, this promises to be a game to remember.
