SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Four people have died from COVID-19 in South Dakota, pushing the state's virus death toll to near 2,100, the state Department of Health reported Tuesday, Sept. 14.
There have been 2,092 fatalities from COVID-19 reported in the state since the first known fatality was reported March 10, 2020.
Also on Tuesday, the state reported 992 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, although the total also includes those collected on Saturday and Sunday when the state doesn't post COVID-19 data online. The state is averaging about 600 new cases a day.
Active cases climbed to 7,090, up more than 1,000 from a week ago, and reaching a total not seen since Christmas.
The following are the state Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations tracked by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as of Tuesday. All data is the latest available but should be considered preliminary and could be updated at a later date by health officials.
