The Tennessee Titans have released former Gov. Mifflin and Penn State standout Jan Johnson from their practice squad.

The 6-2, 236-pound Johnson was signed to the Titans practice squad on Sept. 1, one day after they released him from their 53-man active roster.

He was one of three players that Tennessee released Monday, along with kicker Michael Badgley and tight end Tommy Hudson. The Titans signed linebacker Joseph Jones and offensive lineman Christian DiLauro to their practice squad.

Jones has 49 games of experience over four seasons (2017-20) with the Denver Broncos, totaling 26 career special teams tackles

Johnson signed a futures contract with the Titans in January. He played in all three preseason games, making two solo tackles against Chicago, one solo stop against Tampa Bay and two assisted tackles and a half sack against Atlanta.

Coming out of Penn State, he signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in April 2020 before they released him during training camp last year. He later had tryouts with New Orleans and Tampa Bay that didn’t produce a contract.
