Wizards radio broadcast returns to The Team 980

Wizards radio broadcasters Dave Johnson and Glenn Consor.

Radio broadcasts of Washington Wizards games will return to The Team 980 (WTEM-AM) this season. The partnership brings the Wizards back to The Team 980 for the first time in seven seasons.

With the new partnership, all 82 games of the Wizards’ season will be broadcasted on the flagship station. Dave Johnson and Glenn Consor will be the primary announcing team. Johnson enters his 25th season as the franchise’s play-by-play voice, while Consor will be in his 15th season as color commentator.

Johnson has won an array of awards during his broadcasting career, including an Emmy and the Edward R. Murrow award for best writing. He was inducted in the Virginia-DC Soccer Hall of Fame for his broadcasting of that sport in 2010.

Prior to starting a broadcasting career, Consor was a scout for the Wizards and Indiana Pacers. He played for Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino at Boston University and had a professional career in Israel.

The Team 980, an Audacy station, will provide an array of Wizards-specific programming, including regular appearances from head coach Wes Unseld Jr. and general manager Tommy Sheppard.

Wizards games will also continue to be broadcasted on WFED 1500 for the 2021-22 season.
