Attacker stabs man, tries to grab backpack in Bronx subway fight: cops

An attacker stabbed a 26-year-old man and tried to grab his backpack during a fight in a Bronx train station this week, cops said.

The victim was arguing with the suspect on board a northbound D train just after 11 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

The dispute spilled onto the platform at Kingsbridge Road in Fordham Manor, where the suspect displayed a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and stomach, police said.

The armed man also tried, unsuccessfully, to swipe the victim’s book bag, authorities said.

The suspect then bolted out of the station.

The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, initially in critical condition, but he has since stabilized, authorities said.

The nature of the dispute between the men was unclear Tuesday.
