When the lockdown started, pianist Sarah Cahill gathered pianists from across California via Zoom for a weekly sharing of ideas and work-in-progress. We’ll hear results from their collaboration in this exuberant group concert that combines new music with works by women composers and composers of color. Participating pianists include: Sarah Cahill, Allegra Chapman, Gloria Cheng, Monica Chew, Jerry Kuderna and Regina Myers.

Works performed:
Fred Onovwerosuoke | Twelve Studies in African Rhythm, Book I
Eleanor Alberga | Three-Day Mix
Terry Riley | Etude from the Old Country
Adolphus Hailstork | Scherzo No. 1
Grazyna Bacewicz | selections from Ten Concert Etudes for Piano
Wang Lu & Anthony Cheung | Recombinant
James Newton | Looking Above, The Faith of Joseph
R. Nathaniel Dett | Bottoms

Presented by Ross McKee Foundation
