August Inflation Rises Less Than Expected

(Washington, DC) -- Inflation didn't rise as much as experts predicted in August.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the consumer price index rose three-tenths percent over July and five-point-three percent over August of last year. Both are smaller increases than analysts had forecast.

The core inflation rate, which leaves out food and energy costs, rose four-percent over August of 2020.
