An attempt by two members of the Eximious Flying Club, which is based at Coleman Young Detroit City Airport (KDET) in Michigan, to land in all 48 contiguous states within a 48-hour period proved unsuccessful due to a mechanical issue.
According to the flying club’s website, there was a problem with the Rockwell Commander 114’s constant speed propeller on departure from Marianna, Florida, forcing the airplane back to the airport. The pilots and aircraft were unharmed, but the problem could not be resolved in time to continue on with the record-setting attempt.
The plane was fixed and is now back at the club’s home base at KDET, according to flying club officials.
Samuel Carbaugh says
It was a good attempt. My aircraft, a PA28-151 N40810 used to be an Eximious club aircraft. Small world

Maybe they should have tried it with a Cessna 150 … would have been more “sporting.”
