Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden went through a lot of emotions during the first Monday Night Football game of the 2021 season.

If you watched the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Baltimore Ravens 33-27 in overtime on Monday night, you know it was all over the place.

The Ravens gave up an early 0-14 lead, but fought back and kicked a field goal to go ahead 27-24 with less than a minute left in regulation. The Raiders answered back quickly and forced overtime in the final seconds.

Las Vegas looked like it was about to call game in OT, but an interception in the end zone gave Baltimore a chance. It was Lamar Jackson’s fumble that sealed the deal as the Raiders scored with their resulting possession.

The game was intense for anyone watching. Especially Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, who had his own…interesting interpretation of the night in a postgame press conference.

While it may be an unconventional comparison, Gruden’s cat analogy does sum up what many of us were feeling during that rollercoaster of a game. It isn’t hard to imagine that the Raiders head coach was having a life-or-death crisis on the sidelines while watching his team battle back and forth.

At the end of the day, even if it cost them all nine lives, the Las Vegas Raiders are heading into Week 2 with a win on their side.
