Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland ultimately decided to stay in Germany for one more year after Chelsea tried to sign him this summer. However, in 2022, a release clause of around €80 million will be activated as numerous European giants continue to show interest in the Norwegian. Per 90min, Liverpool is also planning to try their luck with Haaland, having made contact with his agent, Mino Raiola.

The Reds currently have one of the most exciting frontlines in Europe with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Robert Firmino/Diogo Jota. But, there's a growing belief that Mane and Firmino could be moving on next summer. Haaland would undoubtedly be a phenomenal addition up top at Liverpool, but the competition for his signature will be extremely fierce. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, and Man United are all hoping they will be his next club. His father played at City, while Haaland does have a good relationship with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who coached him at Molde.

The youngster has conquered Germany and is clearly up for a new challenge. Haaland's career at Dortmund has been nothing short of remarkable, scoring 65 goals in as many appearances while also supplying 19 assists. He's already netted five times in the current Bundesliga campaign as well through four matches.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool steps up their pursuit of Erling Haaland next summer. Either way, whoever actually signs the striker will be in possession of arguably the most clinical finisher on the planet right now.
