CARVER – Edaville Family Theme Park is on track to open this year after being derailed by the pandemic and staying mum for over a year on  whether its gates would ever swing open again.

The park announced on Facebook on Tuesday that it will open Thursdays through Sundays starting Nov. 13 for its Christmas Festival of Lights. Tickets pre-purchased in 2020 will be honored this year, it said.

"We will be doing reservations except for the guests with pre-purchased tickets. They will be able to come any time," the park said in a statement.

The park said masks will be required in the park and there will be temperature checks at the gate.

The park said it will have more details soon.

As part of the state's COVID-19 reopening protocols, amusement parks were allowed to open in May. Six Flags of New England opened on May 15 and Water Wizz in Wareham resumed operations June 19.

Edaville's opening date was the subject of speculation as town leaders and South Shore families wondered when the family theme park would reopen.

Park representatives couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
