Krispy Kreme's Apple Cider Glazed Donuts include the Apple Cider Glazed Donut, Apple Cider Glazed Original Filled Brown Sugar Kreme Donut, and Apple Cider Glazed Cake Donut.
The Apple Cider Glazed Donut is a spiced yeast ring donut covered in new Apple Cider Glaze (made with apple cider and spices), the Apple Cider Glazed Original Filled Brown Sugar Kreme Donut takes the Apple Cider Glazed Donut and adds a Brown Sugar Kreme filling, while the Apple Cider Cake Donut is an apple cider old-fashioned cake donut covered in Apple Cider Glaze.
An Apple Cider Glazed Dozen costs $15.49 in my area but I received these courtesy of Krispy Kreme.
All three donuts in the collection come covered in new Apple Cider Glaze, which has a strong, slightly tart apple juice concentrate flavor. I couldn't pick up on any spiced notes but that might have been because the apple juice flavor was just really prevalent.
The Apple Cider Glaze paired fairly well with the yeast ring donut, which mellowed out the glaze's flavor a bit and added that signature airy texture that Krispy Kreme is known for.
The Apple Cider Glazed Original Filled Brown Sugar Kreme Donut felt like the sweetest of the bunch and added a sweet creaminess and light note of brown sugar.
Compared to the yeast ring donut, the Apple Cider Cake Donut offered a soft, moist, dense texture with just a bit more richness in the donut portion as well as a light apple cider flavor that didn't notably pump up the already punchy flavor of the glaze. However, it lacked the crispy crust of a fresher old-fashioned donut.
Overall, Krispy Kreme's Glazed Apple Cider Donuts were enjoyable enough but maybe leaned a bit too heavily into the apple cider aspect that the donut portion felt a little shoved to the side. Of the three, I slightly preferred the cake donut version as it stood up better to the glaze.
