Coronation Street to air heartbreaking death this week as sad news rocks residents
Coronation Street will air upsetting scenes this week, as one fan favourite will sadly lose their life.
Norris Cole is confirmed to have sadly passed away in emotional scenes that will no doubt leave viewers emotional.
The ITV soap legend, played by actor Malcom Hebden, will bow out for good this week, after a brief return last year.
After arranging to meet with his pal Ken Barlow, he sadly passes away before he has the chance to tell him what he planned to.
In scenes to air on Wednesday evening, Ken and friends Rita Tanner and Mary Taylor are distraught when Freda breaks the news they are too late.
After the news that Norris has collapsed and suffered a stroke, the trio race to the hospital to see him only to find out he has passed away a short time earlier.
Ken and Rita are left wondering what important news he had to share, fearing they will never know.
News soon reaches the street that Norris has died, leaving everyone in shock.
Norris was last seen on the ITV soap when he paid everyone a visit back in June 2020, after leaving in 2017.
Actor Malcom had suffered a near-fatal heart attack in 2017, spending time in hospital recovering.
After returning briefly in 2019, he made the difficult decision to retire from the acting world and leave Norris behind.
Now, Norris will bow out this week as the character sadly passes away off screen, with viewers seeing the reaction of those who knew him best.
Last month, news of the character's death was revealed after cast members were pictured filming a funeral.
According to The Sun, a source said of the decision to kill off the much-loved character after more than two decades: "When Malcolm left the soap he made it clear he would not be returning and bosses took the decision to write him out.
"Norris was a huge character for Coronation Street and his funeral will be filled with fun and laughter as well as tears.
"Make no doubt about it, this will be a celebration of all of the best moments Norris had on the cobbles.
"But given his influence and how much he was loved, it is going to be an emotional watch."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
