Victim identified in Pass Road wreck that injured two others
GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Pass Road in Gulfport is back open to traffic after being closed for two hours Tuesday following a fatal crash.
The three-vehicle crash happened Tuesday just before 8am on East Pass Road. One person died after being ejected from one of the vehicles and two people were taken to the hospital with injuries, confirmed Sgt. Jason Ducre with Gulfport Police Department.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victim as 30-year-old Lou “Gayle” Smith-Craft of Gulfport. She was a passenger in a car heading west on Pass Road.
According to Switzer, the vehicle Smith-Craft was traveling in was heading west on Pass Road when it veered into the eastbound lane, colliding with an oncoming pickup truck.
Both east- and westbound lanes were shut down from Oakleigh Avenue to Lindh Road while an accident reconstruction team investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
Of the three vehicles, two received heavy damage, said Ducre.
