Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders pulled off what arguably was the most memorable win in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season, as they took down Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens, 33-27. The game featured an up-and-down performance from Carr, but what's undeniable was that he racked up all the yards he can with his arm that he nearly surpassed a mark previously set by Patrick Mahomes.

Derek Carr threw for 435 yards on Monday, the second-most on Monday Night Football over the past 10 seasons (Patrick Mahomes – 478 vs Rams in 2018). It was Carr's seventh career 400-yd game, tying Daryle Lamonica for the most such games in Raiders history.

Carr finished the night completing 34-of-56 completions, none more important than the rope he tossed to Zay Jones to send everybody home in overtime. The former Fresno State Bulldogs gunslinger passed for two touchdowns altogether. It was not all that sweet for Carr and the Raiders' passing attack, though. He had a crucial interception in the fourth quarter and got sacked three times for a loss of 26 yards. That said, the Raiders stuck to their pass-heavy attack that needed a whole lot from tight end Darren Waller.

Beating a team like the Ravens is a big boost for Las Vegas' morale, and the Raiders will ride the giant wave of momentum from that victory going into their Week 2 assignment against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road.
