Peters Will Start For Illinois on Friday vs. Maryland

(Champaign, IL)  —  Brandon Peters will return to the field for Illinois on Friday against Maryland.  Bret Bielema announced yesterday that the quarterback will get the start over Artur Sitkowski.  After winning the starting quarterback job in training camp, Peters injured his non-throwing shoulder in the first quarter of the Fighting Illini’s season opener against Nebraska in August.  Peters was cleared to practice late last week, but was not able to get any reps before Illinois’ game against Virginia.  Sitkowski lost both of his starts filling in for the injured Peters.

Illinois Coach Bret Bielema talks about starting Peters this week.

And, after two straight losses, Bielema says they have to be better on Friday night.

The Illini play Maryland at home on Friday night at 8 pm.
