Drivers on I-43 in Sheboygan County as well as on highways in four other Wisconsin counties will be getting extra scrutiny from the Wisconsin State Patrol this week.
Aerial enforcement over I-43 here will take place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, weather permitting. Juneau, Oneida, St. Croix and Barron Counties will get only one day attention each.
The State Patrol says that they are announcing the mission publicly to reinforce a goal of public safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws, and not simply to stop or cite drivers. But that’s not to say you won’t be stopped if you’re caught. They say that it’s much easier to spot speeding or aggressive driving from the air, and when it’s spotted, a patrol car will be notified and the stop will be made. The best way to avoid that…keep you eyes on the road and speedometer – and not on the skies.
