40% of Cleveland County residents fully vaccinated

Cleveland County has administered more than 80,004 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of Sept. 7, according to data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

That's up 2.38% from the previous week's tally of 78,142 COVID-19 doses administered.

In Cleveland County, 40% of people living in Cleveland County are fully vaccinated as of Sept. 7. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

North Carolina reported 1,262,581 total cases of coronavirus, an increase of 4% from the week before.

The five counties with the highest percentage of their population fully vaccinated in North Carolina as of Sept. 7 are Orange County (81%), Dare County (67%), Wake County (66%), Durham County (63%) and Buncombe County (62%).

Here are the latest numbers on COVID-19 vaccinations in Cleveland County as of Sept. 7:

  • 45% of people in Cleveland County have received at least one dose of the vaccine, for a total of 43,395 people
  • 40% of people in Cleveland County are fully vaccinated, for a total of 38,726 people

In North Carolina: 

  • 59% of people in North Carolina have received at least one dose of the vaccine, for a total of 5,949,430 people
  • 49% of people in North Carolina are fully vaccinated, for a total of 4,943,928 people
