Jesse Eisenberg has responded to rumours that he was due to reprise his role as Lex Luthor in The Batman.
The actor has played the villain in a number of DC movies, most recently Zack Synder's Justice League, with the movie hinting that he could appear in the upcoming Robert Pattinson outing.
While an appearance would be unlikely given that the SynderVerse is separate from The Batman's universe, it was suggested to Eisenberg in a new interview that an appearance could have been planned.

"Oh, yeah," he told ComicBookMovie. "Yeah, of course. Also, if there were [plans], I didn't know about them. Otherwise, I'd have some great material, but I didn't know about it!"
Speaking further about whether he could return to Luthor one day, Eisenberg said: "Umm... I'm probably the last person to know the answer to that question because I don't know how they make those decisions.
"You know, my background is in theatre where you do a play 200 times and you feel like you're just getting the hang of it by the last performance. I would love to play any character again.

"After a movie ends, the actors usually turn to each other and say, 'Oh, now I finally know what I'm doing and I understand what my purpose [was].'
"Actors, in my experience, do like playing roles again but that particular one is just not up to me. I'm sure I could do a one-man show somewhere but no one would, you know…".
Meanwhile, The Batman is set to debut a new trailer next month as part of DC's FanDome event, a year after fans were given a first glimpse.
The Batman has a release date of March 4, 2022.
