More Features Coming at Trails at Mill Pond

Volunteers at the Trails at Mill Pond in Marshall County are continuously adding more features to the mountain bike trails at the location off of 12511 South Rose Road in Plymouth.

Jeff Houin told the Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board last week that a wall ride was recently finished there.

“It’s essentially a 45 degree angled, wooden feature that goes around a curve and functions like a large berm,” said Houin.  “It’s like if you think about banked turns on a racetrack so that you can ride around that and carry speed.”

The wall ride was constructed out of donated lumber.

Brandon Calhoun said two downed trees were incorporated into a feature as well.

Houin said there are many riders who have provided feedback and how much they enjoy visiting the trail and riding the course.

Previously, Houin and Calhoun said more trails will be clear in the near future to expand on the trails already created.

Signs will be made that will direct visitors to the site and some more signage for the trails will be put up soon.

Houin commented that he hopes to coordinate with the Bicycle Cruise for an event during the Blueberry Festival in 2022.
