At this point, it’s clear the American League Wild-Card race will come down to the final week of the regular season.
On Monday, both the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees picked up wins, while the Boston Red Sox lost to the Seattle Mariners. So here’s how the current standings look:

Here are the games of note Tuesday which will impact the AL wild-card race:
Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles (7:05 p.m. ET)
Tampa Bay Rays @ Blue Jays (7:07 p.m. ET)
A’s @ Chicago White Sox (8:10 p.m. ET)
Red Sox @ Mariners (10:10 p.m. ET)
As for the Yankees, they are in control of their own destiny. After series against three bottom-feeders (Orioles, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers), New York finishes up with three-game series against the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Rays.
Yankees ace Gerrit Cole (14-7, 2.78) will take the mound Tuesday in his first appearance since being sidelined by a sore hamstring. Baltimore will counter with left-hander Alexander Wells (1-2, 7.15).
By the way, the San Francisco Giants became the first MLB team to clinch a playoff spot with Monday’s 9-1 win over the San Diego Padres.
