Young Boys Vs Manchester United Prediction, Odds And Team News

Manchester United travel to Switzerland to take on Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Three-time European champions Manchester United begin their quest for Champions League glory with a trip to Switzerland to take on Young Boys on Tuesday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo made a sensational return for the Red Devils against Newcastle United at the weekend, finding the back of the net twice - and he will be looking to make a similar impact again.

Up next for the Portuguese phenomenon is David Wagner's Young Boys, who stand in the way of the 36-year-old's favourite competition.

Incredibly, Ronaldo has scored a staggering 134 goals in the tournament - the most ever. Will Young Boys have what it takes to be able to keep him at bay for 90 minutes?

Ahead of the game, our tipster Robert Mann takes a look at some of the best bets from Young Boys vs Manchester United to get your teeth stuck into.

Young Boys vs Manchester United betting tips & predictions

Young Boys are 15/2 to win, with Manchester United priced at 1/3 to come away with the victory. A draw is priced at 17/4.

Prediction: 0-3 (17/2)

Half-Time/Full-Time: Manchester United/Manchester United (1/1)

United head into this game with some serious momentum behind them and they should be too hot for the Swiss outfit to handle.

On the face of it, it's hard to escape the possibility that this could be a bit of a mismatch, assuming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer picks his strongest team, of course.

First Goalscorer: Cristiano Ronaldo (12/5)

When it comes to European football and scoring goals, look no further than the man himself, Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who scored twice on his second debut against Newcastle on Saturday, was part of the last United side to win the Champions League back in 2008 and went on to win the competition on a further four occasions with Real Madrid.

Win to Nil: Manchester United (11/8)

Young Boys have only won two out of their five matches in the Swiss Super League which can only bolster United's chances of three points here.

Having said that, though, the Swiss outfit can tend to be quite entertaining to watch, but at the expense of conceding goals - having kept just three clean sheets in their last 12 fixtures.

Young Boys team news

Young Boys will again be without the services of Fabian Lustenberger and Jean-Pierre Nsame on Tuesday due to injuries, while Joel Monteiro, Esteban Petignat and Nico Maier will also be absent.

The Swiss outfit are expected to line up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Meschack Elia being joined in the final third by Theoson-Jordan Siebatcheu.

Manchester United team news

Scott McTominay is pushing for a return after groin surgery, but may not be risked, with Fred likely to return in midfield after sitting out Saturday’s win over Newcastle.

Edinson Cavani also missed that match with a knock and Solskjaer must decide whether to hand Ronaldo another start or save him minutes.
