The New York Knicks didn’t have widespread changes to their roster this season as many had predicted. Armed with the most cap space in the NBA and multiple first-round draft picks, many expected New York to make a splash.

The old Knicks would have made that splash. Even if the move didn’t fit the timeline or build of the franchise, they would have gone out of their way to make a deal. The new regime, led by Leon Rose, is different.

Rose and Willam Wesley stuck to the plan they had in place. They didn’t force anything, letting the pieces fall where they may.

While that resulted in some people believing they had a poor offseason, the Knicks are a better team, today, than when they were eliminated from the postseason by the Atlanta Hawks.

In free agency, New York was able to retain a majority of its free agents. Nerlens Noel, Derrick Rose, Alec Burks, and Taj Gibson were all brought back.
