On Monday afternoon Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken addressed a live audience at the 8th Street Bridge in downtown Sioux Falls to make a special announcement.

Mayor TenHaken made about a 17-minute speech in which he stated his attention to run for a second term as Mayor of Sioux Falls. in the 2022 city election.

In his speech, TenHaken stated that to accomplish the many things he views as goals for the city it will take, "Someone with a steady hand at the wheel. Consistency to carry forward what we have done the last 3 ½ years."

The Mayor continued, "Someone who will listen first and speak second. Someone whose only agenda is Sioux Falls. That's it. And someone that wakes up every day thinking how can I make this city better. And for those and numerous other reasons, it would be my honor to lead Sioux Falls forward for a second term as mayor of this city”.

Mayor TenHaken concluded his speech by pointing out that, “I am not a politician by nature. The more I am in this role the more I realize how much of a non-politician I am. I'm just a guy who loves Sioux Falls. Who's called to do this work. My faith is a big part of who I am and the work I do and I feel this is where I need to be right now."

Sioux Falls will vote for its next Mayor on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
