Butte County is seeing an increase in COVID-related deaths following a recent surge in cases.
Four additional deaths were reported Monday, bringing the total to 221 since the pandemic began. The four additional deaths include people in the 55-64, 65-75, and 75+ age groups, according to Butte County Public Health.
"Since this latest surge started in late July, the death toll due to COVID-19 in Butte County has increased by 19. Sixteen of those deaths have been reported in the past seven days," Butte County Public Health wrote in an update. "Since April 15th, of the 25 deaths in persons below the age of 80, 4% were fully vaccinated."
KRCR has reached out to Butte County Public Health for clarification on the exact number of fully vaccinated residents who have died of COVID-19.
