NEW LONDON – The Skogen family will soon acquire the last Festival Foods location it does not already own.

Skogen’s Festival Foods announced in a news release Monday plans to purchase the Festival Foods store at 308 N. Shawano St. in New London. The store, which is the only remaining Festival Foods in Wisconsin not owned by the Skogen family, will officially change hands Oct. 15.

Brothers Mike and Ted Coppersmith began working at their parents’ Red Owl grocery store in New London in the early 1970s. The brothers bought the family business in 1979 and, along with Ted’s wife, Beth, began operating the store as Festival Foods in 1999.

“My family and I want to thank everyone who has supported our family and our business for so many years, and we are pleased to transition the store to another family who puts customers and communities first,” Mike Coppersmith said.

The New London location will be Skogen’s Festival Foods’ 36th full-service supermarket in Wisconsin, according to the release.

“The Coppersmith family has delivered excellence to the New London community for generations,” Mark Skogen, president and CEO of Skogen’s Festival Foods, said. “We are honored to have this opportunity to continue the tradition they began.”
