Flyers Asking Fans for New Goal Song Ahead of Season

With the NHL season rapidly approaching, the Flyers have called on their fans to pick the team’s new goal song.

After sending out a tweet listing the Flyers old goal songs, which include Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love by Van Halen, Bro Hymn by Pennywise, Maria (I Like it Loud) by Scooter, My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark by Fall Out Boy, Booyah by Showtek, Fluxland by XL, We Dem Boyz by Wiz Khalifa, and Feel the Shake by Jetboy, the Flyers ended the tweet by saying “Coming soon: new goal song.”

It’s the first time in Flyers history the fans will be called upon to pick the new goal song. After the team reviews submissions and pick finalists, there will be a vote to help determine the winner, which will be unveiled opening night.

Some fans want to see a new song, but others want to throw it back to 2012-2013 when the Flyers used Maria (I Like It Loud), or better known as the Doop song.

The Philadelphia Union still use this as their official goal song, but why can’t the Flyers use it too? It’s perfect!

Some other fans would like to see something different, maybe the Shout Part 2 by the Isley Brothers?

Even Gritty got in on the action, suggesting Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird.

It’s an interesting choice but Gritty’s vote counts for two since he is the official mascot of the team. Overall, it’s just cool to see the fans having fun with something like this. There are thousands of options that would be good, but there might be a competition between two songs in particular.

The first is the Doop song and the second is Mac Miller’s Knock Knock.

As many Philly fans can remember, Knock Knock was featured prominently during HBO’s 24/7 Flyers/Rangers: Road to the NHL Winter Classic. It was the team’s victory song for the 2011-2012 season and well after that. It became an unofficial anthem and apart of the orange and black fanbase.

This season will be like no other for the Flyers, the amount of change they’ve undergone this offseason has been unprecedented in their history. The new goal song will define an era of Flyers hockey. Every time Cam Atkinson breaks free on a breakaway and scores what song will be blaring through the speakers?
