Gen Z is taking over the Met Gala. Each year, the event appoints a few co-chairs to be the faces of the evening. This year's group is all under age 25. But, though they are young, the four cohosts are no less accomplished or recognizable than those of prior years. As per a May announcement, the 2021 co-chairs are Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Naomi Osaka, and Amanda Gorman.

Chalamet, of course, is the much obsessed-over, 25-year-old actor who made a name for himself in the acclaimed film, Call Me by Your Name. Eilish, 19, is the musical prodigy behind two hit albums, and the recipient of seven Grammy Awards. Osaka, 23, is currently one of the best tennis players in the world and is a is a four-time Grand Slam singles champion. She is also an activist, advocating for mental health awareness and the Black Lives Matter movement. Finally, Gorman, 23, became a household name after delivering her poem, "The Hill We Climb," at President Joe Biden's 2021 inauguration. She was the first person to ever be named National Youth Poet Laureate.

The four co-hosts were chosen not just because of their many achievements, but also because they are representative of this year's gala theme—American fashion.

"Each of the Met’s four co-hosts embodies the defining factor of American style: individualism," Vogue wrote of the announcement. "They may approach the concept differently, but their shared passion for expressing themselves through clothing connects with the exhibition’s theme."

Alongside the Gen Z hosts, Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour be the evening’s honorary chairs. Prior to the event itself, fashion-lovers can tune into the Met Gala red carpet tonight at 5:30 p.m. EST. Watch the livestream on Vogue's website as well as their Twitter.
