With the Baltimore Ravens' running back room decimated by injury, they went out and added a bunch of new players at the position. The Ravens signed Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman to the practice squad, and they also brought in Latavius Murray and Trenton Cannon. There was some speculation that Bell could be activated and see the field for Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football, but ESPN's Jeremy Fowler says it's not going to happen.

Freeman also won't be activated. This means Ty'Son Williams, Murray and Cannon are in place at running for Lamar Jackson and Co. in Vegas. Jackson is something of a running back in his own right, so he'll surely be looking to run often.

The Ravens will be making do with this group at running back thanks to season-ending injuries to their top backs. First, starting running back J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn ACL in the final preseason game. Gus Edwards was then in line to start, but he tore his ACL in practice last week. Cornerback Marcus Peters also tore his ACL at the same practice as Edwards. Furthermore, running back Justice Hill recently tore his Achilles, resulting in him getting waived and Cannon being signed.

As for Bell, he's just trying to hang on in the NFL after a disappointing stint with the Kansas City Chiefs. It wasn't that long ago that Bell was arguably the best running back in the league, but he hasn't been the same since he missed the 2018 season due to a contract dispute.
