Hamilton College finished in fourth place out of 22 teams at Middlebury College's 37th Duke Nelson Invitational, which was held at Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, Vt., on Saturday and Sunday.
The Continentals were part of a talented field that included six schools -- Hamilton was one of the six -- who received votes in the Division III preseason coaches poll. The Continentals recorded a four-man team score of 297 on the first day and went even lower with a 295 in the final round for a tournament total of 592. Babson College captured the team title at 580, New York University was runner-up at 581 and the hosts ended up third at 591.
Jack Habeeb '22, who hasn't competed in a tournament with Hamilton since the fall of 2019, led the way for the Continentals as he tied for seventh place out of 110 golfers at 3-over 145. Habeeb's even-par round of 71 on Sunday was the best of the weekend for Hamilton.
Tommy Kantaros '24 finished in 15th place at 148 in his first collegiate tournament with the Continentals. Kantaros' 73 on Saturday led Hamilton's five competitors.
Brian Healy '25 enjoyed his first event with the Continentals as he tied for 21st place at 150, including a 74 in the final round.
Billy Geach '23 and
Jack McKeon '22 were right behind Healy in a tie for 24th place at 151. Geach posted a 75 on Sunday and McKeon fired a 74 in the first round.
Hamilton returns to western New England next weekend for the Williams College Invitational at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass. The round starts at 1 p.m. on Sept. 18 and at 9 a.m. on Sept. 19.
