This is a big get for the Cats.

After a huge weekend for the Kentucky Wildcats football program, they’ve landed one of their top remaining targets in the Class of 2022.

Today, junior college defensive back DeCarlos Nicholson announced his commitment to Kentucky.

Nicholson, who plays at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, is ranked as the No. 1 JUCO cornerback in the Class of 2022 by 247 Sports, which also has him rated as the seventh-best JUCO recruit overall. He held additional offers from Ole Miss, Florida State, Mississippi State and Baylor among others.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Nicholson should have a great shot at significant playing time next season as Kentucky likely loses senior cornerbacks Cedrick Dort, Quandre Mosely and Davonte Robinson to graduation.

Kentucky’s new secondary coach, Chris Collins, is listed as the primary recruiter. That’s big news for Kentucky as Collins looks to replicate the tremendous recruiting success his predecessor, Steve Clinckscale, had during his time in Lexington before leaving to take a job with the Michigan Wolverines this offseason.
