The election is less than two months away, and you may receive an application for absentee voting in your mailbox.
There's something new to this year's absentee ballot application form: the ability to receive an absentee ballot for every election moving forward until you want to be removed from that list.
This option includes primaries, if you want to vote early then as well.
Bedford County Registrar Barbara Gunter says you can mail your application to your local registrar through the online portal.
"You do not need an excuse to vote early in Virginia," Gunter said. "You can request an absentee ballot by mail, or you can go to your locality's early voting site and vote in person."
Important dates for you to remember:
- The deadline for sending in absentee ballot applications is Friday, Oct. 22.
- Keep in mind that the first batch of absentee ballots will be sent out this Friday, Sept. 17.
- The last day to register to vote is Oct. 11.
