Packers open as big betting favorites over Lions in Week 2

The Green Bay Packers scored only three points and lost by 35 to open the 2021 season, but there’s still a strong expectation of a bounce-back performance in Week 2.

Even after a 38-3 defeat to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, the Packers opened as 10.5-point favorites over the Detroit Lions in Week 2, according to Tipico Sportsbook. The over/under is 47.5 points.

There’s good reason to believe the Packers will rebound in their home opener.

The Packers have now lost seven total regular-season games under coach Matt LaFleur but never two straight games. The team is 6-0 after losses since the start of 2019, with five wins of at least 10 points.

The Lions fell behind by 28 points and eventually lost their home opener to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.

Last season, the Packers beat the Lions by 21 points at home and by seven in Detroit.

The Packers have won all four games against the Lions since LaFleur’s arrival, with an average winning margin of eight points.

Only the Cleveland Browns (-12.5) are bigger betting favorites in Week 2.
