WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - Four people were forced out of their homes due to a Sunday barn fire in Superior Township, officials said.

Firefighters responded at 1:38 a.m., Sept. 12 to the 3000 block of Napier Road in the township just north of Ypsilanti, said Superior Township Fire Chief Victor Chevrette.

The four people fled from the fire, which totally destroyed their barn, officials said. The attached house survived, but with enough damage to displace the individuals, Chevrette said. The fire was extinguished by 4:28 a.m., officials said.

Nobody, including firefighters on scene, suffered injuries from the fire, officials said. The displaced people are living with family nearby, Chevrette said.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing, officials said, with an early determination that it was suspicious in nature.

Superior Township Fire received assistance from fire departments from the City of Ypsilanti, Canton, and Ann Arbor, Northfield, Salem, Plymouth, Northville and Ypsilanti townships. Medical assistance was provided by HART and Huron Valley Ambulance.
