Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh catches passes before action against the Washington Huskies, Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at Michigan Stadium. Mich

The Michigan Wolverines improved to 2-0 over the weekend with a dominant 31-10 win over the Washington Huskies. Head coach Jim Harbaugh employed a full-team attack that include special teams’ trickery, a stout defense, and an offense that focused on its bruising running attack.

Running back Blake Corum led the way with 171 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 21 carries. Meanwhile, Hassan Haskins carried the ball 27 times for 155 yards and one score. Given that star wide receiver Ronnie Bell was out of the game, they had to rely on his running attack and it really paid off for the Wolverines.

During his Monday press conference, Harbaugh seemed to feel the need to defend Michigan’s reliance on the run and ended up providing a very colorful quote in the process.

“George Patton was able to get the job done on the ground,” said Harbaugh. “Neil Armstrong, through the air…on Saturday we got our mission accomplished on the ground.”

As you might imagine, college football fans and media had a lot of fun with Harbaugh’s latest comments.

People like to rag on Harbaugh because of his inability to beat Ohio State or get Michigan back to the national championship picture, but, love him or hate him, college football is certainly more interesting with him in it.
