The Toronto Raptors have received approval to return to Canada for the 2021-22 regular season. Last year, the Raptors made a temporary home in Tampa, Florida due to COVID-19 policies.

ESPN delivered the details on the Raptors return late last week.

The Raptors have gotten approval from the Canadian government to play games at their home arena this season, a team spokesperson said Friday.

Toronto played last season in Tampa, Florida, because of travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report from ESPN went on to mention that is still unclear how many fans will be allowed inside the Raptors’ home arena once the season begins.

It’s not clear whether the team will be allowed to have full attendance at Scotiabank Arena. Fans who attend games will be required to show proof of vaccination.

Last season, the Raptors fell short of qualifying for the 2021 NBA Playoffs after seven consecutive trips to the postseason. Toronto opens the regular season with a home game against the Washington Wizards.
