Sherfield had two receptions (three targets) for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-33 win over Detroit.

Sherfield had a strong debut with his new club, making a crisp zag route from five yards out before rookie Trey Lance dialed him up for the score. It was fitting that the touchdown came from the arm of Lance, as the two players showed a strong rapport during the preseason, connecting on two plays of 40-plus yards. Sherfield took advantage of Brandon Aiyuk's (hamstring) limited availability, logging one extra offensive snap (27 to 26) than his projected starting teammate. The 25-year-old has showed some promise early on this season, but he may fall back to fourth on the depth chart once Aiyuk is back to full strength.
