A younger version of Ellen DeGeneres is the star of a new children’s show coming to HBO Max this week.
“Little Ellen” premieres exclusively on the streaming service Monday, Sept. 13. The animated series features DeGeneres as a 7-year-old who goes on “unexpected adventures” with her friends and pets.
The series hopes to inspire young ones to be themselves, according to the show’s trailer. “Little Ellen” premieres as DeGeneres wraps the 19th — and final — season of “The Ellen Show.”
DeGeneres does not voice any of the characters on “Little Ellen.” The cast includes June Squibb as Gramsy; Laurel Emory as Little Ellen; JeCobi Swain as Ellen’s BFF Freckle; and Johanna Colón as Ellen’s chic cousin Becky. DeGeneres, Kevin A. Leman II and Sam Register are executive producers.
