The Princess of Pop has added a diamond to her crown jewels.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari announced their engagement on Sunday, less than a week after Spears’s father filed a petition to end his conservatorship of her estate.

The couple announced the news in a video on Spears’s Instagram, in which she shows off her massive diamond. “I can’t f—— believe it!” she captioned it, with heart and ring emojis. The couple met in 2016 when Asghari co-starred in one of her music videos.
The court-ordered conservatorship that gave her father, Jamie Spears, control over her finances since 2008 allegedly denied Spears the ability to get married to her boyfriend of five years.
“I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she said in a June court hearing. “I was told, right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby.”
The announcement received an outpouring of support from fans and celebrities, though some, such as actress Octavia Spencer, cautioned Spears to sign a prenuptial agreement to avoid any chance that Asghari could take advantage of her assets.

Asghari gave a tongue-in-cheek response on his Instagram story, promising to get an “iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
