SEC quarterback power rankings: Bryce Young, Matt Corral vie for No. 1 spot

SEC quarterback rankings after two weeks have Alabama and Ole Miss signal-callers, Bryce Young and Matt Corral, putting up big numbers for their respective squads.

After another week of SEC football, there’s been plenty offense from plenty of teams in the SEC. While the conference isn’t traditionally known for having high-powered offenses, it certainly seems like things are a little different right now.

That said, not every team is seeing a ton of success on offense. Vanderbilt is a mess and the Texas A&M Aggies only managed to score a single touchdown against the Colorado Buffaloes in a narrow 10-7 win. But, even though some teams throughout the conference are struggling to produce points and yards, there are plenty of others in the SEC who are scoring with ease.

So how do the SEC quarterbacks stack up this week?

Texas A&M wasn’t supposed to be playing Zach Calzada and having him lead the offense against Colorado, but the Aggies were forced to bring him out when Haynes King went down with a leg injury early on against the Buffaloes. Calzada and the Aggies struggled on offense, which is far from being a good sign. They’ll need to get things figured out ASAP if King continues to miss time.

Things have been rough for the Vanderbilt Commodores over the past couple of weeks and quarterback Ken Seals hasn’t exactly been thrilling to watch. Seals has thrown for a respectable 433 yards, completing just over 61 percent of his passes along the way. He’s also thrown for two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Florida’s Emory Jones is incredibly talented, but he’s had a rough start so far. He’s shown he’s a dynamic rusher, but he’s been prone to having his passes picked off. So far he’s completing just 63.3 percent of his passes for 264 yards and a couple of touchdowns, but he’s thrown four interceptions. Right now, Florida head coach Dan Mullen is using two quarterbacks to run the Gators offense and this team definitely needs some consistency when Jones is on the field.

The South Carolina Gamecocks have a rather unique quarterback situation on their hands. It wasn’t that long ago that Zeb Noland was a graduate assistant. Now he’s off the sidelines and back on the field to lead the Gamecocks. Noland has been okay. While he’s not even completing 60% of his passes, he has thrown five touchdowns against an interception. So, things could be worse.

Hendon Hooker stepped in and quickly made his name known after an injury took out Joe Milton III. Milton was struggling and Hooker hardly performed considerably better, but he did give the Vols a chance. Against Pitt, Hooker completed 15-of-21 passes for 188 yards, a pair of touchdowns and an interception.

The Arkansas Razorbacks have rattled off back-to-back wins to start the year, including a fairly monumental win over the Texas Longhorns. Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson was efficient, but he wasn’t really the reason the Razorbacks won that game. He completed 14-of-19 passes for 138 yards, but he didn’t have any touchdowns and threw a pick. That said, he did add 73 rushing yards to the Razorbacks’ running game, which certainly helped Arkansas topple Texas.

The Auburn offense has been roaring over the past two weeks, throttling both Akron and Alabama State. The Tigers are a terrifying team to face right now and their quarterback Bo Nix hasn’t made any mistakes. He’s completed 74.4 percent of his passes and has tossed five touchdown passes, but he’s only thrown for 383 yards.
