Sam Asghari joked that he’s just as concerned about signing a prenup as Britney Spears’s fans are.

Following the singer’s announcement that she and her longtime boyfriend are finally engaged, followers flooded her comments with questions about whether or not the couple will be signing any kind of legal documents to keep Spears’s multimillion-dollar assets safe. Of course, this is of particular concern to those who support the pop star given the 13-year conservatorship she’s been under and the fact that her father Jamie Spears only just stepped down from his position overseeing her estate last week. And it wasn’t just Spears’s fans who were asking the hard questions, actress Octavia Spencer also slid into the singer’s comments to say, “Make him sign a prenup.”

On Monday, Asghari sarcastically responded to Spencer and the public’s concern, writing on his Instagram Stories, “Thank you to everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we’re getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase [sic] she dumps me one day.” He concluded with two crying laughing emojis.

Spears announced their engagement on Instagram Sunday night with a video of herself showing off her engagement ring in various poses alongside Asghari before planting a kiss on his cheek. “I can’t fucking believe it!!!!!!,” she captioned the image, followed by a string of ring emojis. Asghari proposed to his girlfriend of five years at home with a 4-carat diamond ring designed by Forever Diamonds NY. People first started speculating about their engagement after the personal trainer turned actor was spotted shopping at Cartier a couple weeks ago, but Asghari had actually already spent months planning a custom ring with Forever Diamonds NY’s founder, Roman Malayev. Malayev said of designing this round brilliant solitaire in a platinum cathedral setting, “We couldn’t feel more honored to create this ring for such a special couple. Their journey together has touched people around the world and we’re so excited to be a part of their forever.” Asghari also finished off the ring with an extra special detail, getting the word “Lioness” engraved on the inside of the band, his nickname for Spears.
