Liverpool ‘working to tie Sadio Mane down to new long-term contract to keep star at club until he is 34’

LIVERPOOL are reportedly in the process of getting Sadio Mane to commit his long-term future to the club.

The Reds want Mane to sign a new deal with them until 2025, meaning he'll remain at Anfield until he's 34, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.

Jurgen's Klopp side have been trying to get the Senegalese star to put pen to paper for the last two years - with the club reportedly willing to offer him £200,000-a-week

But the 29-year-old has avoided any attempts by the Kop giants to sign a new contract so far.

However, in a boost to the Reds, Mane did claim that he's happy with the club.

He said: "I am happy, I am really enjoying sharing the pitch with my team-mates for Liverpool Football Club.

Liverpool have also been eagerly trying to tie down Mane's strike partner Mo Salah to a new contract over the past few months.

The Reds reportedly want to tempt him to sign a deal that will see him earn as much as the club's current top-earner Virgil Van Djik who rakes in £220k a week.

There had been reports swirling around that Liverpool were willing to make Salah, who scored his 100th goal for the club against Leeds this weekend, the Premier League's highest earner on £500k-a-week.

But that has since been said to not be the case.

If Liverpool do get Mane and Salah to commit their futures to the club, they will be among several stars to do so over the summer.

On deadline day captain Jordan Henderson signed a new four-year contract.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson also committed their futures to the club in the off-season.

Another of the club's big stars Andy Robertson will remain at Anfield until 2026 after he signed a new deal at the end of August.
