Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was inactive because he “didn’t feel like he could go.”

Stefanski made the comments after the Browns’ 33-29 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Beckham was questionable and considered a game-time decision.

“He worked out before the game and didn’t feel like he could go a significant amount,” Stefanski said after the game, “so we felt like it was the right thing to do to keep him inactive.”

Beckham, 28, has not been exposed to contact since tearing the ACL in his left knee in October. His surgery didn’t take place until the second week of November, which impacted the timeline for his return.

Donovan Peoples-Jones started in Beckham’s place vs. the Chiefs.

Stefanski said “it’s a possibility” that Beckham could be ready to go against the Houston Texans in Week 2.
