Romelu Lukaku recommends Inter Milan duo to Thomas Tuchel for possible Chelsea transfer
Romelu Lukaku has reportedly made a recommendation to Chelsea to sign two of his former teammates at Inter.
The Blues are in the market for a new central defender having been frustrated in their attempts to sign defender Jules Kounde from Sevilla this summer.
It is claimed by a report in Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset that Lukaku has informed the Chelsea hierarchy about the skillsets of two defenders at the Serie A champions.
Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar were the two players whom Lukaku is said to have recommended as being ideal options in the position for the Blues.
Bastoni, 22, is only in his third season with Inter and recently penned a new contract with the club through to the summer of 2024 in May this year.
The central defender has been capped seven times by the Italian national team and was part of this summer’s Euro 2020 winning squad, including starting the group victory against Wales.
Bastoni began his career at Atalanta before making the switch to the Milanese giants, while enjoying a loan spell at Parma.
He looks set to have a long future at the top level of football at both club and international level with this likely to be the first link of many for a move away.
Skriniar has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past having impressed in Serie A across the past several seasons.
The 26-year-old has amassed 170 first-team appearances for the Nerazzurri and has also become a key member at international level with Slovakia, whom he helped to this summer’s Euros.

Skriniar moved to Italian football in 2016 when he joined Sampdoria and has become one of the league’s top performers in the years since.
The Blues are in the market for a new central defender after sanctioning the sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham in the closing stages of the transfer window, whilst missing out on the signing of Kounde.
It was thought that Chelsea would be able to secure the signature of the France international for a deal below £50million but Sevilla did not lower their asking price and no deal was concluded.
Antonio Rudiger is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer while there are doubts on the long-term future of Thiago Silva, who celebrates his 37 th birthday later this month.
