Jeopardy! fans are none too impressed with former guest host Aaron Rodgers. After the Green Bay Packers quarterback suffered a devastating 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints yesterday, plenty of viewers began mentioning Rodgers’ game show days.
“Aaron Rodgers is in very real… jeopardy… of losing this game,” CBS Sports writer Patrik Walker wrote.
Even sports betting website BetOnline chimed in: “Jeopardy! host Aaron Rodgers failed to lead the Packers to a touchdown in the 1st half. This is why game show hosts shouldn’t be quarterbacks.”
After kicking off the season with such an intense loss, many fans joked that Rodgers should his sights on the recently freed up Jeopardy! hosting gig.
“Aaron Rodgers will be hosting Jeopardy full time next year at this rate,” Twitter user @Paranormal_Bass wrote.
Jeopardy! Season 38 will feature a series of rotating guest hosts once again, after previously appointed host Mike Richards stepped down in August… just nine days after the ABC game show announced he and Mayim Bialik would be Alex Trebek’s permanent successors. The news came after past lawsuits of Richards’s alleged harassment and discrimination on The Price Is Right resurfaced, as well as derogatory comments he’d made about the disabled community, Jewish people, and women on a 2013 podcast.
Richards filmed five episodes (aka a week’s worth of the show) with former champion Matt Amodio before his exit, and those are still set to debut as the first episodes of Season 38 beginning on Sept. 13. But does Rodgers have a shot at taking over the podium full-time? We’ll have to wait and see.
