Alright, West Michigan, listen up! If you’re looking for your next weekend getaway or even just a killer Saturday outing, do we have a place for you.

Enter Red Barn Market in Lowell—a slice of rustic heaven that’s so full of goodness, we’re thinking of forwarding our mail here. (Seriously, someone help us move our couch.)

This Year, They Went “Beyond the Barn”

We thought the fall apple picking was cool and then Red Barn Market went and added this whole new thing called “Beyond the Barn.”

Kids will tell you that this is where the real magic happens.

There’s a corn maze that opens on weekends, but that’s just the appetizer. The main course is Tractor Tire Mountain. Yes, it’s a mountain made of huge tractor tires that you can actually climb.

Beyond the Barn also has a sunflower trail, yard games, and a petting farm that’s a big hit.

Enjoy goats, cows, donkeys, chickens, ducks, horses, and Harley the Corgi.

How Tickets Work

Beyond the Barn opens September 1, 2023, and gives visitors access to several iconic fall fun activities.

Red Barn Market offers two ticket options: day passes or season passes.

• Daily passes run $3 per person Monday to Thursday, and $8 on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
• Weekend tickets include the corn maze.

• Or, you can opt for the seasonal pass at $18 per person. ($10/person gets you unlimited visits Mon – Thurs only.)

Kids 2 and under are free.

Additional costs apply for U-Pick Apples, Pumpkins, and Sunflower Stems.

Walk the Stalks – Red Barn’s Cool Little Corn Maze

Plan to spend 25-30 minutes figuring your way out of this 2-acre corn maze. It’s small but mighty – whoever designed this thing wasted no time plotting twists and turns and getting you completely mixed up.

Unlike the larger mazes in the area, you’ll come to junction after junction right away, proving that you don’t have to be in a giant corn maze to have a great labyrinth experience.

Your mission (kids eat this up) is to find 5 hidden checkpoints; each one you find gets you a chalk mark on a finger. Collect all five, and you can head over to the code board to decipher your next action.

If you go: be sure to wear sturdy shoes; the ground is uneven and those cornstalks are tall!

The Painted Turtle: Hard Cider That Hits the Spot

A fall day without a little hard cider to warm the soul – I might be interested.

Red Barn Market knows this and has smartly set up their establishment so that we can all enjoy it on their alcohol-friendly patio. They also have indoor seating for when Michigan weather decides to, you know, be Michigan weather.

Drool-Worthy Eats – Donut Even Think About Skipping These

Sure, Red Barn Market hooks you up with classic fall experiences, but let’s not overlook the fact that they’re also slinging some seriously delicious grub.

And that is so responsible of them. We need things to pair with the Painted Turtle Cider. It’s wonderful that they’re looking out for us.

A sneak peak at their menu reveals comfort food with a fall twist that’ll have you savoring every bite.

• The Red Barn Bagel: a toasted bagel slathered in cream cheese and apple butter, piled high with sliced apples, turkey, bacon, and a dash of cinnamon spices.
• Cran & Brie Sandwich: turkey, house-made cranberry chutney, creamy brie, and crispy bacon all cozied up inside a warm pretzel roll.
• Fried Pickle Chips & Ranch or the Fried Wisconsin Cheese Curds served with a side of Blueberry Jam.
• Ice cream. Creamy and dreamy. Giant ice cream sandwiches.
• Hand-dipped caramel apples covered in candies, sprinkles, or nuts. This is a gourmet as it gets.

And, for the love, don’t miss the donuts.

If you’re a fan of cake donuts, brace yourself. Somehow they manage to create donuts with a light, crunchy outer coating that gives way to a fluffy, soft interior that melts in your mouth.
