Chelsea Target Double Signing After Romelu Lukaku Suggestions

Chelsea Target Double Signing After Romelu Lukaku Suggestions

Lukaku returned to Chelsea this summer and has a brilliant start, and now he's trying to act as a scout for the Champions League holders.

Romelu Lukaku is already having a huge impact on the pitch for Chelsea, after his summer move, and now the forward is helping with transfer policy too.

Lukaku's return to Chelsea hasn't quite been met with the same fanfare of Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United, sorry Rom for making the comparison, but he's instantly showed why it was such a good move for the Blues.

The former Inter Milan striker scored on his first game back playing for the west London club, seven years after leaving, in the game against Arsenal and then bagged a brace against Aston Villa.

His goals on Saturday were important as it was the type of game Thomas Tuchel's side may have failed to win previously, without Lukaku's eye for goal, with Villa having plenty of chances themselves.

However it's not just on the pitch where the 28-year-old could be making his presence felt, with reports that Chelsea are eyeing up two of his former teammates.

According to Mediaset in Italy, the English side are considering moves for centre back pair Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan, after a suggestion from Lukaku.

Tuchel was hoping to add a new defender to his ranks this summer and clearly identified Sevilla defender Jules Kounde as their top priority.

However the transfer never materialised, with reports that the Spanish side changed the price of their prized possession, with Kurt Zouma's move from Chelsea to West Ham part of the reason for the change in valuation.

The France defender, who played at Euro 2020 for his country, was supposedly 'furious' at his clubs refusal to sell, and subsequent lack of communication with him.

Tuchel might be tempted to try and sign Kounde again in January, especially if they're in a tight title race with their rivals, but they could also move on to Lukaku's suggested targets.

Skriniar has been linked with a move away from the San Siro on several occasions in the past, and was reportedly on Tottenham Hotspur's radar in the summer, and was previously targeted by Manchester United.

Bastoni is one of Europe's biggest talents at centre back and the 22-year-old was very important to the team that won last season's Serie A title.

Whilst the Nerazzurri have had financial problems, it's unlikely that Simeono Inzaghi would want to lose either player, even if he were allowed to reinvest the money.

He'll be hoping the sales of Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi were the end of the outgoings to his team, whilst if either of the pair are signed by Chelsea then there may be a future role as director of football in Lukaku's future.
