Lil Nas X's highly-anticipated debut album Montero is due on Friday (September 17), and the "Industry Baby" singer took to the stage at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

Introduced by none other than Billy Porter, Lil Nas X marches on stage with a full band. Making his "Industry Baby" music video come to life, Jack Harlow dances along too to deliver his full verse. A breakdown finds Lil Nas X bringing forth the "Industry Baby" shower scene, however this time he and the dancers remain clothed.

Transitioning into "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," the performance continues a sultry feel. Only a few bars of the track are sung, winding up the performance, the performance bringing the energy of the single while maintaining Lil Nas X's "Industry Baby" setting.

Lil Nas X became a fantastic VMAs meme back in 2019 when he unrolled a scroll to accept his award and deliver a speech. While his performance this year lacked his usual shenanigans, it still maintained Lil Nas X's controversial artistic edge.

Lil Nas X was only one of the buzzworthy performances at the MTV VMAs. Olivia Rodrigo took to the stage to perform her smash single "Good For U," while Justin Bieber and the Kid LAROI sang "Stay," with Bieber continuing on to perform his Justice single "Ghost." Kacey Musgraves, Twenty One Pilots, Doja Cat, and more served as performers for the night.
